Oh, hi. I’m actually now doing my very first live with one of these funny things. Do I look what’s new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What’s new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Random. Okay. It’s Sunday. I thought tonight I would do one of my Samantha Leith manifesto descriptions.
Tonight, because I’m still in my gym gear, oh hell yeah. I thought I’d do the line that says, let me read it for you, “Exercise is actually fun.” Yes. Never thought you’d hear those words out of my mouth did you? So yes, exercise is fun, and when I was younger I exercised a lot, did a lot of dancing. All this gives me a good smile, doesn’t it? Oh, hi.
I don’t know if I’ll ever do this again. But I wanted to share with you the 5, 10 15 things that I think are good about exercise. I’ve recently, well this year, I’ve really upped my exercise. The things I like to do are boxing, actually I like to do any of the classes that have music because they’re always fun. But, I really like boxing. I get rid of a whole lot of aggression. Just like pow pow, pow pow, pow pow, stick them up, stick them up. Okay, that’s not how you box, but you get the idea.
So anyway, back to the 15 reasons why I think exercise is actually fun.
Number one, it builds your aerobics power. See, none of those climbing up a gill going [inaudible 00:01:37], you can do more, do more, do more, do more, do more, do more.
It can be fun is my second reason, Oh, we’ve talked about that already.
Hi Joanie. Hi Alisha. I get to see you next week, I think. My brows, my brows.
Reduces your blood pressure. I don’t need to worry about that. My blood pressure’s always fine. In fact, sometimes it’s a bit low.
Hey Jenny. It reduces body fat, which well, most of us are trying to do at some point in our lives.
It’s good for your muscles and your bones, your bones, because your bones are really important when you’re older.
It increases the natural antioxidants that your body builds, and one of the reasons that’s good is it’s really good for your skin and it’s good on the inside. So it helps fight all those bloody free radicals that are going eeeeee and wrinkling up your skin and making you look ugly and dry and old and a bit haggidy. So those antioxidants bonus. The [inaudible 00:02:30] function. So you’re less likely to get sick. We don’t like getting sick, do we?
I did write a little list, because I thought I might forget some. Increases your energy. So, many of you might know at the moment that I’m getting up at 4:45 every day. I get up and I do my morning routine, then I go to the gym, then I walk the dog, and I get dressed, go to work or work from home, whatever I happen to be doing that day. Get off conference. But definitely an increase in my energy.
Increases your lung capacity so you can sing better or louder or for longer, something like that.
Gives you better sleep. Oh my God, I love sleep. Sleep. Purr. Purr. We all like to sleep, and I’ve always been a sleeper. My record sleep was 18 hours. Yeah, beat that.
Improves your sex life. Shh. There’s kids in the house, but yeah, definitely improves your sex life. Take it from me. Yeah, I’ll vouch for that one.
Puts you in a better mood. Yes. Exercise puts you in a better mood. It actually decreases your risk of depression, anxiety and just general blue feeling, shitty days. Exercise definitely helps with that.
Boosts your brain health and your memory, that as we know, we used to think brains were like this static thing, like that’s your brain and it’s got that many buttons on it, and you know that’s all you’re ever going to be able to do in life. You could maybe learn a few more things but you couldn’t change your brain at all. We now know, because of neuroplasticity, that you can change your brain. You can definitely strengthen your brain, and grow it, and increase it, and improve memory function, and improve all sorts of things. So exercise is a really good thing for that. I need that one more. My memory is a bit on the dodgy side. Don’t know why.
Anyway, it does help stave off health conditions as well. So things like arthritis, type two diabetes, you name it. Some people say it helps with some forms of cancer. So, there’s a whole lot of different things, but heart disease, blood pressure, stroke, Alzheimer’s, all sorts of things it can help with. My mum suffered from a lot of those. So, that’s why it’s high up on my radar to improve my exercise regime.
My last reason for saying exercise is actually fun, apart from the fact that I get to put on good ears, is it actually increases your motivation in every other area of your life. I find that if I’m getting up and getting to a class and, I’ve tried all sorts of classes, I’ve done pole dancing, I’ve done ballroom dancing, I’ve done all sorts of things. I really want to do burlesque, that’s on my list, burlesque as a thing I really want to do.
But it increases your motivation in everything else in life. So, if you’re getting up and all your energy, and your endorphins, and all that stuff’s happening, and the blood’s flowing, your mind’s going bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, chances are for the rest of your day, you’re going to get more shit done in your own and in the rest of your life. You’re going to go for those goals that little bit harder. That’s absolutely a fun thing and a good thing.
So there you go. There’s my Sunday Sillies with Sam. Exercise is actually fun. I don’t think I’ll ever use a filter again, or my bevel, who knows? Maybe that can be my Sunday thing. I’m trying to get a bit more routine in what I do each day. So maybe Sunday’s funday, and we do crazy shit like this. Give me your suggestions. Let me know. What would you like to see me in? Meow. Purr. Purr.
