Hey, it’s Saturday night and oh, probably dumb with my sunglasses on, isn’t it? Tonight’s I’m about to go to the movies. So tonight’s live is about being okay with flying solo. It’s one of those funny things, a lot of people don’t like going to cafes by themselves or restaurants by themselves or movies by themselves or bars by themselves because it can feel a bit lonely or Nigel no friends, everyone’s going to wonder why no one’s with me. That kind of thing.
And I actually think it’s a really empowering thing to be able to do. And it means you can never have nothing to do, which can sometimes be something that upsets people if they don’t have something to do. So I’m off to see Hustlers tonight, not because I think it’s going to be a… Let’s just say I don’t think it’s going to be up there with The Joker.
But I think watching the fabulously 50-year-old J.Lo doing her thing on a pole will be amazing. And I actually think it’s quite funny that my sunglasses are Quay sunglasses and they’re the ones that she is a spokesperson for. So that’s kind of funny. I like these glasses. I’ve always been okay doing things by myself. I don’t know if it was from my years living on the boat and not having friends around me when I was younger that, I’m okay with it.
I remembered being on the boat. I used to sit on the back deck with the guitar. I cannot play the guitar to save my life by the way. But I’d sit there strumming away at this guitar making up songs and I be okay with that. Yeah, sometimes you’d get lonely, but I got to be okay with my own company and my own thoughts.
And in life, a lot of times we… There are various sayings for it. We dampen ourselves down or we do all the things we can possibly do to not feel. And being alone is one of those times when you feel all the feels. So don’t be scared of it because the worst thing that can happen when you’re feeling all the fields is you feel all the feels. No one’s going to get hurt. You’re not going to get hurt. It’s not a bad thing. And who the F cares if you’re sitting alone in a restaurant, having a great meal, having glass of wine, reading a book, whatever? If Judgy Mick Judge Judge in the corner is, “Ah, why is she by herself?” That’s their shit, not yours.
So to any of you out there on a Saturday night who are feeling a bit Nigel no friends, or that you don’t have something to do or you don’t have somebody to do something with, it’s okay to actually do something you want to do by yourself. And it’s also okay to not want to do anything because it’s your life and it’s your Saturday night. So do what’s going to make you happy. So right now I’m off for my date with J.Lo.
